this past weekend, young dyan and i came across, amazingly, this small seaside seafood shack on our way to the beach, akin to the type you'd find somewhere in New England, or Maine. You know the type, right on the water, small little take out stand with some outdoor benches and wooden tables. Fresh seafood caught locally from their 3 boats. Really, a treat from an area sorely lacking in this type of fare.
Me and my purse about to order.
Fried clam strips. Admittedly, most of the fried clam strips I've eaten in my life have come from white castle (not that I'm knocking that, it's freaking delicious you should all go get some). The difference here is that you can absolutely taste the freshness, creamy and slightly chewy to the bite. The batter was pleasantly sweet and didn't taste like old oil.
Fried tilapia sandwich. Flaky and moist, crispy and lightly battered. Squeeze some lemon wedges onto that puppy and slather it with the tartar, and what you have is something that literally makes you feel like you're eating summer. Shake on the old bay too. Never ignore the old bay with your sea food.
This is one of my favorite pictures, despite the slight blurriness. Still not even close to mastering this new camera we have. Soft shell crab leg, Dipped in tartar, then dipped in old bay. THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST BITES OF ANYTHING YOU COULD EVER ASK FOR!!!!!!!!!!!
Soft shell crabs. I'm actually getting hungry looking at these pics. Mouth salivating slightly. Suddenly this pear I'm currently eating looks like a big pile of doodoo in my hand. The important thing here is that the batter is only lightly covering the crab and not at all overbearing; it really lets the sweetness and "seafoody" flavor of the crab shine through. Don't be crazy, eat the entire thing, it's all delicious.
Tall, refreshing sam adams to wash it all down. look at that super happy expression. geez.Pt. Lookout Clam Bar
