What I'm Eating

It's so hot, all I want to eat is berries and cream.

Trying to eat the most nutrient dense food on a budget has been hard. The way I have figured out how to do it is to spend money on the most nutrient dense foods to get the highest quality, and then go cheap on protein to fill you up. There is a local farm that raises grass-fed cows that I have been buying organ meats from. The difference in taste alone is worth it. I get liver, heart, and knuckle bones from them. I get eggs from my own chickens.

Where I save money is buying muscle meat in bulk. Costco has 10lb boxes of 80/10 burger patties for $2.75/lb, and chicken as low as $1/lb (but I don't eat much chicken these days, it's mainly for the dogs).

My main food group is beef. I try to have beef and one of my nutrient dense foods with every meal. Cheese is something I'm trying to cut back on, but it has been hard to let go of it.

This is a typical meal, beef patties, eggs, and beef heart, with beef bone broth on the side, all cooked in bacon grease. It sounds heavy, but it is so filling and you feel amazing after eating it.

This meal is more of a "I need to mix it up, I'm tired of burgers" meal. Chicken seasoned with cumin and chipotle pepper, beef polish sausages, and ghouda cheese. Not something I would eat every day, but definitely a nice treat when I need to mix it up.

Since it has been so hot, I've been eating a LOT of berries. I'm guessing my cravings will go down as it gets cooler, but for right now I'm ok with adding them in occasionally. I also drink coffee, black with a little stevia. And once or twice a week I'll enjoy it with some heavy cream. Especially if it's a nice espresso.
